Omakase at S$18. Huh, what? Excuse me? Sounds too good to be true, but it is – for the first 18 patrons of the day (limited opening special).
After that, the prices are S$38, S$68 and S$98 respectively for the various levels of Omakase (dishes selected by the chef) sets offered at Ryo Sushi.

I recently tried their S$38 course, which comes with edamame, seaweed salad, onsen egg, 9 pieces of assorted sushi, a mini chirashi bowl, a hand roll, and miso soup. Sounds like quite a bit for the price right?

The verdict? Worth it for what was paid. The seafood was fresh and tasty, and delicately seasoned with sauces like truffle shoyu, miso and yuzu zest.

I particularly liked the crab hand roll that came towards the end, which was a flavourful treat wrapped in a crunchy seaweed shell.
And now I am going to inundate you with pictures of sushi. Feel free to bask in their gleaming glory.

For S$68, you get an additional ‘Chef’s Daily Appetizer’ and 12 instead of 9 pieces of sushi, including some premium ones. For S$98, you get all these and a small sea urchin rice bowl in place of the chirashi one.
To be honest, the food didn’t blow me away – but for the price, I was happy with the above average quality, personalised service (friendly though a little less warm than I had hoped for) and decent portions that were able to (mostly) satisfy my (rather large) appetite.
Maybe I’ll give the other omakase sets a try sometime!

The restaurant is a small cosy one with limited seating (around 12 I believe), so do call ahead to book seats to avoid disappointment.
