Upon entering La Ristrettos, one is suddenly transported from the white, clinical corridors of the Novena Medical Centre into a warm, cosy café full of brown furnishings, quaint wall decorations and tasteful flower arrangement pieces.

The large window panes on one side of the café with a mix of white lace and gingham curtain adornments, the backdrop for a high table seating area, struck me as rather nostalgic and charming.
My Breakfast Crabcake (S$15) looked unremarkable in its presentation, but as I cut into it and started eating, I discovered that the flavours of pesto and balsamic vinegar complemented the moist crabcake, crisp bacon and bouncy poached egg brilliantly.
Quite simple, but tasted marvelous.
The Breakfast Bruschetta (S$15) was a lovely pile of meats and tomatoes stacked upon a sourdough toast, again quite simple, but enjoyable.
Coffee here was pretty good too. I thought my cappuccino (S$5) was sufficiently full-bodied and had a slight hint of cocoa, which I liked.
Reasonable prices, lovely vibes and a nice, silent environment to do some work (no WiFi though) or just relax at, La Ristrettos is a cafe in a busy city where one might find some peace.
They open early (see below), so its great for the early birds who want to get some breakfast in before starting their day.
